I am starting a home based business as well as i am a full time employee in London, how much tax do i pay?

My questions are;
1. Even though i pay tax on my full time job do i still have to pay more tax on my home business?
2. If yes, how much tax do i need to pay if i earn 300£ p/w?
3. Are there any other taxes i need to pay for being self employed and working home based?
I need to assess the financial situation before i jump into it. Please help. Thanks.

Thre are a lot of wild guesses here.
You will pay tax on the profits from your business as well as class 2 NIC’s (about £2.50 pm). If your earnings from your main job are over about £42k, the tax wil be charged at 40%, below that, tax is at 20%.
It is really unlikely that you would be liable to business rates, assuming you are just using one room.

If you were to join a multi-level marketing company, what would be your greatest concern? Give me your top 3 questions.

I’ll give you one question that is all you need…

MMM is concept selling. You are not selling a product, but the concept. It is the toughest type of selling there is. You might be successful if you are a really good salesman (I would say the top 5%). But, if you are such a good salesman, then couldn’t you be successful in many high end areas such as expensive real estate, yachts, medical devices, etc? There is very good money in those types of sales jobs with a lot more respect that MMM.

Any advice in attracting clients for insurance plans online . Providing best network marketing leads.?

Is there even a single MLM company that focuses more on sales than recruiting?

I just want to hear about one MLM company, just one, where the emphasis is on sales, not on recruiting.
Let me clarify, I am in no way interested in joining any MLM, so don’t bother. I am merely interested in hearing if any MLM’s exist that actually are about sales, and not a pyramid scheme. And please, don’t tell me focusing predominantly on recruiting to make money is not pyramiding.
Mexico4me, i think you need learn what leverage actually is rather than just accepting a term from your MLM buddies.

In your silly example you merely transfered the hours worked to your downline without changing the total hours worked. Suddenly we are to believe that you are still making the same amount of money working no hours yet your downline makes money as well? So because you merely spread the hours worked out among more people the company is paying out more money? Right. Do the math.

This is my EXACT point. MLM is set up with the mentality that its better to make money by recruiting people than it is to work hard.

You are delusional if you suggest that is about sales first. You have said in prior answers that no one sells enough personal volume to make a living without a downline and that is precisely why MLM is flawed. Its about making money recruiting (a pyramid) not about sales. The fact that some product is sold doesn’t negate that fact.
Sunny, saying MLM is part franchising is merely MLM tag lines, aka propaganda to justify to the naive.

Think about what you are suggesting. Most people are not sales driven, yet you are telling them its the same as a franchise.

Can you actually imagine a franchise operation that didn’t first sell product? Gee, your new franchise is not moving any product, here is the answer, just open up more franchises! Brilliant.

Only in MLM are foolish principals like this accepted as intelligent.

Any company that focuses more on sales than recruiting by definition is not multi level marketing. This is why you never see MLM companies whose main focus is not on recruiting (regardless of what people in MLM will tell you).

Its amusing to hear some of the answers.

"The power of duplication"??? – what exactly are they duplicating. People in MLM are their biggest customers! So, they are duplicating selling nothing and signing up everyone they can think of to sell nothing (other than to themselves) as well. Its funny when you think about how the MLM corporation is set up, they merely make money by having people sign up for a dream who buy all this product of their own. THEY MAKE NEARLY ALL THEIR MONEY OFF THE REPS BUYING THEIR OWN PRODUCTS! The fact that the corporations are doing well is merely a testament to the fact that they were very good at convincing their reps to buy a lot of product.

"My company focuses on 5 areas". Right, but they tell you the only way to make real money is to recruit. Why do you think no one chooses to make big money selling instead choosing to recruit? Because the MLM dream is based on making money by recruiting, not selling product. Sure, you need to meet your minimums, but most do this buying their own product.

What value do store owners give to their employees? Are you KIDDING me??? Its called a paycheck! If its a commissions job, then they earn commission on their sales. Meanwhile, most people in MLM lose money because they don’t focus on personal sales.

If MLM was about sales, 90% of the people who enter MLM would never join. MLM organizations are not made up predominantly of sales people.

Does your MLM company give you overrides when you recruit someone?

I am specifically speaking about bonuses, rebates, kickbacks, or basically any money that is not strictly commissions from the sale of products to customers.

I am wondering what the biggest bonuses are in MLM that permit people to make money right away while they build their downline.

Tell me about how your compensation plan works (please no links, if you can’t take the time to type it, i can’t take the time to read it :)

You shouldn’t receive anything just for recruiting someone. If you do, you are in a pyramid scheme. You should only receive something when your team move a product, as that’s the sole purpose of a legitimate MLM – to move products (not "information services.")
The UK company I’m in pays 2.4 – 6.3% on my own sales, and 0.3 – 0.8% on my team’s efforts……down to infinity!
In addition, there are promotion bonuses, that are achievable, that range from £250 to £20000, as well as incentives such as share options and holidays.

What is the best MLM company going today?

I just wanted to know what MLM company do you think has the best opportunity and why. If you could also say what product they offer.

First criteria for any MLM or NM company is your personal criteria by simply asking and honestly answering this question:

"Would I be still using this product or service if there was no business opportunity attached to it?" If your answer is "NO", then this is NOT the best company for you.

Providing you stick to the following 7 Foundation Blocks to evaluate MLM and NM company your chances to land with the best one are 1000 x greater than joining someone who is just plugging it for the sake of plugging. Do not be surprised to find out that many of those so called MLM gurus do not know how to spell MLM backwards, usually selling $49.95 information on how to get 300 people a day to join your downline, only for you to find out that they are not part of any MLM company, hence never done it themselves.

7 Foundation Blocks –

1*******the right reusable product not available in stores directly shipped to your customers; (you do not want to store the product, warehouse nor do you want to ship it, invoice it or collect the money for it)

2******the right timing with sensible turn-key and duplicable inexpensive Marketing Strategy in place; (none of that nonsense of making list of friends relatives dead or alive and everybody who said hello to you during the last 15 years, quickly landing you in an all exclusive NFL Club – No Friends Left)

3*****the right management with your own successful mentor;(top management must be experienced in NM Industry and your sponsor/mentor be a person who has been with the company for at least 12 months showing steady growth in her/his income, fully revealing his/her cost of marketing to attain such an income)

4****the company being at least 3 to 5 years in business with marketing potential to a large international population; (do not get stuck to one state or one country deal only with a promise to expand in the future)

5***the right compensation plan; (could write a whole page on this one)

6**the right cause and mission; and (very important, company must not be driven by corporate greed but willing and ready to share it’s fortune brought upon it by distributors. Should their project be of a charity nature like supporting underprivileged kids, make sure company fully reveals the administration costs to you. Administration cost should be ZERO or a maximum of 10%, anything over and above that represents another write-off for the company, taking those profits out of distributors pockets; basically a GREED masquerading as a charity)

7*the company should be privately owned with a chance for you to obtain shares as a bonus for your performance, it must not be publicly traded.

Stay away from any hyped up start-ups or Just-Launching-in-2-weeks deals with join-now-before-everybody-will. Company must withstand the test of time.

Any service or product that is dependent on any form of Government Licensing and regulation or de-regulation is very risky, unless you know a government you could trust your future and that of your family with.

Majority of programs offered for free and that cost nothing are, from the income point of view, worth exactly that — nothing. They are usually designed to gather information about an active e-mail accounts selling them as leads to spammers. Again use your common sense and ask the offering party for proof of income. If hesitant, you can be pretty well assured that he/she can’t show any profits or their expense in time and advertising cost equals or even exceeds the cash flow received. Total waste of time.

There are virtually thousands of NM companies out there. I’ve spent well over $10,000.00 in 2006 to research and join many only to find half a dozen that would deserve my name attached to their name, product, service or Compensation Plan. Compensation Plans were the worst problem, mostly geared to reward just a few people at the top and to benefit company the most or bonuses paid on the highest levels with quotas unattainable to any part time distributor. These companies generally promoted their opportunity as an ideal to start part time and build it up. That is virtually impossible for a part time participant to accomplish with a full time job attached to his/her daily schedule.

Use the above criteria and let me know if you find a company that fits the glove. I am always ready to learn for I coach people in NM worldwide recommending only a very few companies so far.
