Building a global website – essential search marketing tips

Greg Jarboe, SEO-PR, interviews Laura Callow, Intuit, on the panel session devoted to global search marketing at SES Toronto 2011. Topics on the panel to be discussed include: language and culture problems, interpretation of language issues, and whether or not to have multiple SEO teams around the globe or just one centralized source. If you want to go global and see global returns, you need to have a dedicated search marketing presence in each one of your countries. Laura also discusses a case study on the importance of using the correct dialect when creating and marketing your web pages. For example, Orange mobile company went live in the UK in 1994, they used the tagline: the future is clear; the future is orange. But the company was forced to change the tagline in Northern Ireland because the word “orange” refers to the country’s protestant party, and the expression alienated Ireland’s Catholics. Laura also discusses the challenges companies must face when designing their web page templates given the culture differences between countries. In Saudi Arabia and Israel, for example, companies must marketing to an audience that reads right to left so web page templates must be designed in accordance with this cultural trait. Language, user behavior, these are just some of the cultural differences that must be taken into account by companies when advertising in a foreign country. Laura concludes with an example of a cultural difference between Canada and the United States

Building a Solid MLM Business

Building a Solid MLM Business

So many struggling MLM’ers are failing in this industry and it is not due to lack of effort. Most go their whole lives wishing for more out of life and never even make the attempt to better their situations. Everyone actually working to accomplish their dreams deserves to be applauded however I hate to see their efforts wasted.

A disturbing trend I have noticed is that individuals are getting involved with one opportunity after another whether it is an MLM, affiliate, referral etc… You have seen these people; you know the ones with one tweet after another promoting everything under the sun.

They then jump right into social networking with the single focused intent to promote (sell) anything and everything they can.

You must first form a business plan and carefully chose what it is you are willing to promote. Your reputation is on the line.

In any business, but especially small business, you need to target one specific audience with laser precision. Determine what your niche is and focus all of your energy on that.

Successful marketers start by determining what is needed and then develop products and services to meet those needs. They don’t blanket the universe with random ads hoping someone will see it and buy.

This brings us to a related mistake. Whether it is on Myspace, Facebook, Twitter or anywhere else most people are using social networking sites for advertising and only advertising. Most “tweets” are 100% sales messages. Myspace group posts are all advertising messages. There aren’t even forum posts anymore!

Your goal should be to position yourself as an adviser, be of service and genuinely connect with others if you are looking to build a strong MLM business.

Which brings us to our question…

Its possible you can work your fingers to the bone and make a few sales in the process by tweeting your heart out, posting ads on Craigslist and so on… but then what? Once you stop…so does the meager sales you might have generated (if you were lucky).

You must first build YOUR business before you promote anything and what you promote should fit into YOUR business plan.

Many “MLM Gurus” will feed you genius little insights into marketing principles. They will excite you with thoughts about attraction marketing. They will give you a piece of the puzzle here and there and then bait you into purchasing more.

Then once they teach you all this great stuff they say…now all you have to do is promote my product! What? How does that position you as a leader? It doesn’t.

Your job is to build your business. There is a valid role for affiliate marketing in your business plan but you really should be focused on establishing a solid business of your own. To do that you really should stop everything your doing until you have built a website of your own.

The life-blood of any online business is traffic. Not traffic to your prepackaged MLM site, referral sites, affiliate sites…but YOUR website. This is how you establish yourself as a legitimate presence on the web. Your “networking” sites should serve as feeder sites to YOUR website.

Your website can then feed your other sites. In this way you position yourself so the search engines deliver free traffic to you. (targeted traffic) At that point you can deliver your message, pre-sell your visitors and direct them through your sales funnel.

Make it your business to help others build their businesses! Content is the currency of the internet. Build a website that delivers quality content your target market will value and you are finally on the road to internet success.

Gantry Cranes and Their Uses

Lifting, lowering and moving of heavy objects in many industrial plants, is performed by heavy machinery. Gantry Cranes are one type of these machines that has some advantages over the others as far as utility, cost, and mobility. They may be the best choice for your operation.

The element of these machines responsible for the actual lifting or lowering of material is the hoist. It extends or retracts a wire rope or chain, from which hangs the material to be moved. Weights of up to 150 tons are lifted by some units.

This hoist can be built into a trolley, which will traverse along a rail or dual rails fitted under a horizontal, overhead bridge beam. This arrangement allows the material to not only be lifted and lowered, but also moved horizontally along the beam and replaced at a different location.

Horizontal movement along the third plane is possible when this overhead beam, rather than being fixed, can also travel perpendicularly along tracks positioned on the outside edge of the work space. This entire mechanism is commonly supported atop a foundation of concrete footings and structure built into or along the walls of a factory, shop or plant.

The machinery straddles the heavy objects being lifted, and the work area. The types of industrial environments where these heavy lifting machines are commonly employed include, dry docks, locomotive repair shops, docks, pulp mills, steel yards and concrete fabrication plants. Smaller versions can be found in smaller plants and shops. Sizes are variable from small mechanical units to large 150 foot span electric powered versions.

Gantry cranes are similar in their constitution and uses. They work in the same way, but the bridge beam is not supported by concrete footings and supports which are building fixtures. Rather, it has upright supports on either end, which are part of the machine itself. These units travel along the floor over inverted angle iron tracks. They may also move on wheels or rubber tires, rather than floor mounted fixtures, which create barriers for carts and forklifts. This also makes them portable so that they can be moved where ever wanted.

Variations include single leg styles which combine elements of both types. They have supports on one end, and run along footings on the other. Cantilevered types have support only on one end, and project out over objects like docked cargo ships.

While these may be more expensive to purchase, the total cost of obtaining a working unit can be considerably less due the elimination of the need for investing in the concrete and metal runway structure to support the overhead beam. This is especially true in situations where a long runway is needed.

There is an additional cost advantage where the plant is leased and moving may be possible in the foreseeable future, or when the machine could possibly be transported to other sites for work there. These machines can also be used both inside and outside of buildings.

These powerful electric material lifting and moving machines have been indispensable in a variety of industrial applications. Gantry Cranes often are less costly and more versatile than other lifting machine types.

Barnhart Crane and Rigging Company offers phenomenal crane service. Check out a couple of our specialties: Crane Service and Machinery Moving.

Deck and Patio Ideas – How to Maximize your Outdoor Living Space

There’s a lot of things to do on a weekend afternoon but not many better than to enjoy the time with your family and friends. It’s a good deal of fun to spend time with the people you love and enjoy good food and drinks on your deck or patio. It’s a marvelous feeling to cook and eat outdoors. It is very enjoyable during the warmer months. People truly seem to enjoy the outdoor life in summer. It’s not hard to imagine frequent gatherings out of doors on a beautiful day. For a real thrill though, step past just catering a party outside, let crowd enjoy the whole experience with an outdoor kitchen right on your patio or deck.

When you decide to add that outdoor there are a few considerations that need to be made. Those decisions include:

Custom design or basic Kitchen Grill

Probably the most important aspect of the whole outdoor kitchen is its actual design. Obviously, if you’re looking to have the total outdoor kitchen cooking experience, then you’re going to want to have a custom kitchen designed to your specific wants and needs, this can include the type of counter top materials used and the actual table top configuration.

Over Head Shelter or Cover

The shelter type you choose will undoubtedly be influenced by your climate and location. You might want to consider a large pergola or small awning.

Type of masonry for the grill

When designing your outdoor grill there are some choices to be made. How the grill is fired and what it’s made of especially. The actual grill itself affects the complete look and feel of the experience. Brick, cinderblock and masonry are common choices. Then there is the choice of how to fire the grill will it be gas or wood/charcoal? Whether you decide on an enclosed gas grill or actually build a complete structure for wood or charcoal can greatly affect the cost and use of your outdoor kitchen. Some people enjoy setting in front of a good fire outdoors and continuing to enjoy themselves and their outdoor space even in winter. Generally gas stoves can’t muster the heat like a good wood fire. The decision also affects the cost and type of materials used in the structure as well as the look and feel.

Appliances

So, here we have to look at the little extras that will make this a total outdoor kitchen. Appliances that you may want to have as part of your kitchen may include a refrigerator, a dishwasher, a waste disposal unit, and a wine cooler. Just remember that the more appliances that you include in your kitchen plan the more extensive the electrical wiring will have to be, but this and other aspects of a project such as this will have to be discussed with your contractor.

An outdoor kitchen is a great thing, mainly because it gets people outdoors and into the sun. Enjoying the outdoors with your friends and family is a healthy and fun filled pastime that can be enjoyed even in the winter. Whether alone or with loved ones the outdoors lifestyle is of benefit to almost anyone.

Basement Remodeling – How to Easily Build a Home Gym

If you love exercising but hate wasting your time and cooling off too much waiting for your favorite piece of workout equipment at the gym you would do well to consider installing a gym of your own. A good many people have basements and quite often they are used for nothing of much more importance than storage. Constructing a custom home gym in your basement is an excellent remodeling project for just about anyone with only a few things to consider.

The actual size of your basement

The primary item of concern are the actual usable space and overall dimensions of the basement. The space you have to work with in your basement, ceiling height and floor space that you have available to dedicate to a home gym remodeling project will have a lot to do with what exercise equipment you are able to install.

Creating additional space

One thing you may run into is that to fully do justice to your vision you may need to add space for your project. If you are the handy man or a “Jacques tout faire” type you could probably handle the task of framing out a little additional space on your own. The problems might come when someone is actually less than adept with knowing which end of the hammer to hold. If you aren’t confident in your skills at construction it would be a good idea to consult with a general contractor. It is always best to measure twice and cut once so your project fits right the first time.

The type of equipment

You will need a good amount of ceiling clearance for most multi-station workout machines. This is something you will have to keep in mind when making your equipment purchases. After any and all construction is completed and you have definite measurements for your new gym area it is a good time to begin choosing equipment. Another thing to keep in mind is the MAX height of a machine as some machines come with moving or additional parts that will increase the height of the machine when attached or in use.

Additional lighting considerations

Another important thing to take into consideration is the quality of lighting in your basement space. Most basements are inadequately lit at best and have either the old hanging bulb and chain or an ugly florescent boxlike light fixture. Unless you are really into the “Rocky in Russia” training regime you may want to consider adding some decent lighting. Not only will recessed or other fine lighting fixtures increase the class and style of the room but will also increase your safety as good lighting will make accidents due to failing to notice something out of place far less likely.

Proper Ventilation

In many instances, we do not think too much about the ventilation in our basements, because in many cases we really do not spend a lot of time in them. But if you’re going to be using the basement for your home gym, then it becomes very important to have your basement properly ventilated. This is another instance where you want to consult with a professional contractor, and even have an inspection performed to see what sort of a setup you will need to make sure that your basement and your home gym are ventilated properly.

With the completion of your home gym remodeling project, you have not only eliminated excessive travel to a crowded gym, but you will also have increased the comfort, functionality and inherent value of your home.

Now you can get the basement of your dreams with Northern Virginia basement remodeling – with builders devoted to perfecting your dream space. Real Estate Realtor – Prepping to Relocate your Family

Buying a home – especially your first home – can be a massive accomplishment. Some new homeowners feel like they just scaled Mt. Ordeals and feel like celebrating with their realtor. Don’t celebrate just yet however as the hardest part is just around the corner – packing. If you’re not the type to hire a moving company then you’ve got a big task ahead of you.

It’s no shame to be lousy at packing, not everyone can roll the score board on Tetris while trying to squeeze all their knick knacks into small cardboard cubes. If you are one of the unfortunate souls that packs the fire place irons in the same box with a wine carafe here are some tips to help you on your move.

Packing Tips from Realtors #1 – Start Early

Never leave all of your packing for the last minute. You’ll wind up packing the garbage, stuffing boxes, miss marking packages and forgetting where items got put because of the rush. Many of your things will need to be cleaned and sorted before you pack them and there’s just no way to sort, organize, clean and pack everything in your home when you do it all at once with no time to do it in.

Packing Tips from Realtors #2 – Stay Organized

When it comes time to pack make sure you are labeling every box on the top and sides. You want to mark the boxes with their contents, the room they came from and where they’re going as well as whether or not they’re fragile. When you start loading everything up this will make for far less confusion and reduce the chances of lost or broken items.

Optional : Don’t seal boxes until the last minute. If you do tape them shut, just make sure that you won’t need anything that inside the box before you get settled into the new home you purchased with your Realtor

Packing Tips from Realtors #3 – Use Good Materials

It is rather common for people to try cutting corners using old, used boxes or boxes not designed for moving. When you use an old or improperly designed box you are risking damage to your belongings. It is very important to use new boxes designed specifically for the loads that you will be packing in them. An old box has significantly reduced crush and shift protection

It is good sense to use filler material to wrap around delicate or scratch and chip prone items. Fillers like Styrofoam and bubble wrap are good choices. If you can’t afford packing material like bubble wrap then use seasonal clothing, towels or extra linen to fill the space in boxes.

Packing Tips from Realtors #4 – Packing Heavy Items

The weight can really pile up when you start stacking electronics, books and various knick knacks together in boxes. This is where it’s extremely important to use strong packing materials. Even with proper boxes and quality tape you don’t want to pack boxes any heavier than 50lbs – and in some cases less. Even though most moving boxes can easily support that weight, it’s not safe to stack a lot of boxes that exceed 50lbs. With very many heavy boxes you are also increasing the chance of strain and personal injury. Keep your boxes light and use more boxes if you have to.

Packing Tips from Realtors #5 – Fragile Items

The most important thing to remember with items like china, silverware and stemware or decorative fragile items in the home is that they should be packed with a lot of protective wrapping. Shifting and jarring movements during the ride to the new home coupled with vibration and clattering of the items against one another can lead to a lot of broken glass and shattered china. It is a very good idea to spend the money to protect your valuables properly, that way you don’t have to spend even more to replace or repair them..

It can be stressful and a little overwhelming packing for a big move. Broken goods or difficult unpacking can make things much worse. Following these tips from your realtor can help simplify the process and ensure that you’re ready to run out the door with boxes in hand once you close on your home.

Whether you’re looking for real estate or a home, our Washington DC Realtor can help you grab up the perfect home at a price that you can afford. Don’t let that dream home slip by – contact us together to star the search together for that perfect Northern Virginia real estate. Paragon Remodeling – 8000 Towers Crescent Dr – Vienna, VA 22182

Deck Builders – Building the Right Deck for the Righ Price

It’s amazing just how many people who have a home also have a custom built deck. Of course there are many reasons that this is the case, but the obvious reason is because homeowners are hiring deck builders based on referrals from other satisfied clients. You probably already know of a friend or a neighbor who had a new deck installed recently. And as the nice weather is approaching, now would be a great time to consult with a few deck builders and have your own deck installed right away.

Even if you aren’t exactly sure what you want, a quality contractor can help guide you on the finer points. A quality contractor is patient, knowledgeable and helpful but they are not usually considered all knowing miracle workers. It is a good idea to know what you want to save time and to give a contractor a place to start, thereby making the project less a task for them and yourself.

Like most home improvements a custom deck is a personal thing, the overall design and decor of the deck is a reflection of the homeowner’s tastes and sense of style. The prevailing theme or style of a deck should also be an extension of the homes design and architecture. The reason is for a smooth flow between the two without a jarring clash of tastes.

It’s common knowledge that dcor of decent quality isn’t cheap but it’s the materials you choose for your deck that influence the majority of a projects cost. A quality deck builder will not only know what materials are right for your location but also will be able to balance your costs and material requirements for the best fit.

Many times a homeowner is not aware of the laws pertaining to construction permits. Virtually every city, town and village has a gaggle of ordinances that a quality contractor should be well versed in. In most cases they will handle the details for the homeowner streamlining the process and ensuring no troubles further down the road.

The contractor will go over what the cost of materials should be with the homeowner. This figure can vary from project to project and the homeowner should have this explained to them by the contractor, as they may not understand that the same sort of deck design that a neighbor two house down from their home paid a few thousand dollars less for, more than likely had to do with the sort of material chosen for the construction of their deck vs. what material was used for their neighbor’s deck construction.

Contractors don’t usually donate all their knowledge, experience and expertise. They will assuredly be addressing their costs and fees. It is just good business practice for a contractor to require a partial payment of the total cost up front. Doing so serves as more than just a good faith payment. Beyond ensuring that the homeowner is committed, it also ensures the contractor won’t be on the hook for the irrecoverable costs associated with construction. These costs include labor, fuel, incidental expenses, time and pulling permits to get the work started. Should a homeowner cancel their project after it has begun but before completion, the contractor will be able to part with the homeowner on good terms.

When choosing a contractor, look for contractors with a good client history. More clients means more possible references. The better contractors will usually finish on time and in budget, and possibly even finish ahead of schedule. For time critical projects it is always best to enlist the most professional deck builders. This may not be the guy with the biggest trucks and shiniest tools, look for contractors that can provide you with references or with a portfolio of projects and satisfied clients.

Now you can get the hot tub deck of your dreams with deck builders in Virginia devoted to perfection. Paragon Remodeling will provide you with a skilled Virginia General Contractor devoted to bringing your dreams and designs to reality.
